I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at California State University, Fresno. I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Reno in May 2018. My primary fields are Comparative Politics and International Relations.
My research emphasis is on nationalism, identity politics, and human rights in the countries of the former Soviet Union. My work has been published in Nationalities Papers, Ethnopolitics, Ideology and Politics Journal, and East/West: Journal of Ukrainian Studies. My latest research projects examine how television media is used as a tool of conflict in the Donbas and how social media data can be used to analyze political trends in Russia.
I teach courses in Modern Politics, Comparative Government, International Politics, Global Political Economy, and the Politics of Russia and Eastern Europe.
As a native of Ukraine, I graduated from Karazin Kharkiv National University (2009) with a degree in Economics. I received my master's in International Relations from California State University, Fresno. I gained experience working for a nonprofit, interning at California State Assembly, and completing research fellowships with IFES (Washington, DC) and GESIS (Cologne, Germany).
My non-academic interests include running, hiking, and traveling.
